The Engineering and Maintenance Section of the Edmonton Transit Branch is looking for a Senior LRT Signals Engineer who will be responsible for the management, administration and provision of engineering, technical support, maintenance and capital replacement services for LRT signal system infrastructure. You will also be supporting other areas of the City in the ongoing expansion of the LRT system, managing and providing engineering support to various contractors who provide preventative maintenance and repair services for the LRT signalling system.
Enhance the safety, reliability, and operational efficiency of the signal systems by initiating designs and implementing modifications or upgrades
Develop and manage the preventative maintenance programs as well as develop and administer various construction and services contracts
Perform life cycle analysis and monitor LRT Signal System Infrastructure to achieve optimum safety and service levels
Manage and coordinate capital projects. Identify and prioritize investments in the existing infrastructure to ensure the LRT signals systems continues to serve LRT operations in an safe, efficient and reliable manner
Effectively plan and manage human and capital resources that promotes a service focused culture, improved performance, and safety and wellness in the workplace
Identify and submit operating and capital budget requirements and assist in managing the budgets approved for the signal systems area
Develop procedures, standards, and practices for LRT operations, maintenance, consultants and contractors to ensure smooth functioning of the LRT signal system and prepare various specifications, reports and correspondence both internal and public
Completion of Engineering degree in Electrical, Electronics or a related field
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or current eligibility for membership as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA
Minimum of 7 years experience in railroad signal design, construction and maintenance, preferably in an urban transit environment
Demonstrated experience in managing projects, administering contracts, estimating project costs, and preparing budgets
Ability to develop and maintain business relationships with various contractors, consultants, and parts suppliers
Strong supervisory skills with the ability to develop and lead high performing teams
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly report writing
Proven project management skills along with excellent prioritization and customer service skills
Competent in using computer control and maintenance systems, MS Office suite, and Google applications
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
